I live in an old house, a very old, little house. When we decided to relocate to Florida my husband went to find a place for us and our son to live and he found this house. I fell in love with it from the start. We had to get rid of half our things but when we moved in we fit perfectly. We painted, landscaped the house and made it our home. It is a great little house.
Now, it is five years later and I still love this house but it is a little older and a little more cramped and needs some love. My husband and I have come to an impasse. He wants to move to downtown and live in a fancy condo. He likes the idea of the tall buildings, the endless entertainment and restaurants and I agree, this sound appealing, but I love this house and my husband loves me. So, we will stay in the little old house in the small city, but not without some big changes.
Our little old house will get a complete face lift. It will get a new roof, siding, update windows, floors and a little more space. It will be a long journey causing us to have to find a new place to live for 3 months but when it is all finished we will be rewarded with a brand new old house.
What would you do; move to downtown or stay in the little old house?
My son loves Italian food and we make pizza and gnocchi a lot, but I do not like feeding him the can sauce from the store that is full of preservatives. So, I decided to make my own tomato sauce. Here is the recipe. I hope you like it as much as we do.
Simple Tomato Sauce
2 cloves of mince garlic
1/2 of a chopped up yellow onion
1/2 of a chopped up green pepper
1 cup chopped mushrooms
1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
1/2 teaspoon Italian
Boil the tomatoes until soft and skin is starting to peel off. Take out tomatoes and put them in a bowl of ice water.
Sauté onions, garlic, green pepper, and mushrooms until brown.
Peel and smash tomatoes. Add to pan. Add seasonings. Cook on medium/low heat until liquid has cooked out.
